Garlic Rubbed Roasted Cabbage Steaks with Bacon
Prep:
5 mins
Cook:
45 mins
Ingredients
1 (approx 2lb) head of organic green cabbage, cut into 1" thick slices
1.5 tablespoons olive oil
2 to 3 large garlic cloves, smashed or use garlic powder
kosher salt
1 lb. of bacon
freshly ground black pepper
spray olive oil OR non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375F and spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Pull outer leaf off cabbage (it's usually dirty and nasty looking), cut cabbage from top to bottom (bottom being root) into 1" thick slices.
Rub both sides of cabbage with smashed garlic or sprinkle with garlic powder.
Use a pastry brush to evenly spread the olive oil over both sides of the cabbage slices.
Finally, sprinkle each side with a bit of kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Then add a slice or 2 of bacon to cover the cabbage steaks.
Roast on the middle rack for 45 minutes until edges are brown and crispy. Serve hot and Enjoy!

Allean's Southern Cuisine
Social media is a beast. Every now and then you get something in your time line that appears 3 or 4 times a day that you just have to find out about for yourself. And well Allean's Southern Cuisine is one of them.
Located in Columbia S.C. Allean's is that spot. You know that spot that you can always depend on if you want a meal not just to eat but to make you want hug the chef. I mean look at this
smothered pork chop
Hearty and tender macaroni and cheese
Red rice.
There is no place like this in the area at all. Definitely worth treating yourself and/or family to www.alleanssoutherncuisine.com
Don't forget to save room for dessert.....red velvet cake, peach cobbler etc.
